July 19, 2012, (PRWeb) LIVERMORE, Calif. — The Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce and Innovation Tri-Valley have announced their Fourth Annual Innovation Forum. The event will be held at Casa Real in Pleasanton on July 26. It starts at 10:00 a.m. with an expo showcasing innovative businesses and organizations around the Tri-Valley region.

Dale Kaye, CEO of the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce and Board member of Innovation Tri-Valley, said, “The Innovation Forum is a joint project of the Livermore Valley Chamber and Innovation Tri-Valley. It was created to showcase the Tri-Valley’s technologies and innovations that are changing the world. It’s designed to show the world just what is here in the Tri-Valley.”

This year’s luncheon program will feature a panel of business experts moderated by Bloomberg Business Weeks’ Peter Burrows. Burrows is a senior writer for Bloomberg’s Business Week and previously the senior correspondent in Silicon Valley. The focus of the panel is how to grow jobs in the US and keep them here in the new economy.

Panelists include former Undersecretary of Commerce for the Obama administration, Ro Khanna, whose book “Entrepreneurial Nation” comes out in August.

Khanna said, “This forum will bring together leaders from business, the labs, and civic associations to discuss how to grow our economy, overcome the skills gap, and facilitate job creation. The focus will be on solving problems, instead of boilerplate rhetoric.”

Other panelists are Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and Ken Turteltaub of Lawrence Livermore National Lab who is leading the initiative to develop an Institute for Translational Biomedicine (ITB) a partnership between LLNL and Sandia located on the Livermore Valley Open Campus. The ITB will dramatically accelerate and improve the success rate for the development of new pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and biosecurity technology.

Anthony Zografos, COO of Compact Particle Acceleration Corporation and Christine Wente, fifth generation winemaker at Wente Vineyards round out the panel.

Buck Koonce, Director of Economic Development at LLNL said, “The Innovation Forums are an excellent venue for gathering the community and encouraging connections that would otherwise not happen as easily. For example, during one of our last forums, a local community business leader approached LLNL and learned about our many technologies available for licensing. The company is now considering options to expand their business portfolio. Connections like that—from one meeting—are priceless.”

The expo features innovative businesses, government and educational initiatives from around the Tri-Valley. It normally draws over 300 participants.
