There’s a great event this September that should be on your radar.
TEDxLivermore will be a day of inspiring, reflective talks with a purpose. Like TED events, TEDx are community-organized efforts to promote ideas worth spreading. At TEDxLivermore, our talented roster of speakers from GoldieBlox, the California Academy of Sciences, Tomorrow Makers and other places will talk about creativity, sharing their own aha! moment of creative discovery and its impact. We are all creative creatures, but sometimes need a little inspiration to unlock our potential. With the theme “Uncork Your Creativity,” TEDxLivermore may help do just that.
Some of the speakers include:
- A former San Ramon fire chief, Richard Price, who created a life-saving smart phone app that alerts CPR-trained individuals when someone nearby is having a cardiac event.
- The chief rainmaker from GoldieBlox, the woman-led toy company on a mission to inspire the next generation of female engineers.
- Dr. Meg Lowman from the California Academy of Sciences, with her views on how men and women working in concert can effectively tackle some of the most pressing environmental concerns.
- Todd Johnston, a process design facilitator, will reveal how to harness the power of collective intelligence (that’s you and me, working together) to address complex challenges.
TEDxLivermore will take place on September 20 at Las Positas College. You can buy tickets at www.tedxlivermore.com. For more information on speakers, or on TEDx events in general, check out the web site.
Hope to see you there!
