Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group Hosts Energy Unleashed Summit at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore
On March 31, the Tri-Valley will host a regional energy conversation with global implications
DUBLIN, CA —March 4, 2026 — Energy Unleashed is more than a regional convening. It is a celebration of what is possible.
Curated by Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group (ITV), which has served as the nexus for economic leadership in the Tri-Valley for the past 15 years, Energy Unleashed brings together top scientists, policymakers, investors, and civic leaders to accelerate California’s path to a clean energy future.
In partnership with the Livermore Lab Foundation — the philanthropic foundation supporting one of the world’s premier research institutions, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) — this summit will showcase the breakthrough innovations and the bold collaborations that are shaping the next era of energy.
The event is also hosted by the City of Livermore, i-GATE Innovation Hub, StartUp Tri-Valley, Daybreak Labs, and Maroon Research Institute.”Energy Unleashed is about the Tri-Valley showing up for California — sharing what’s working here and leaning into the ingenuity of our broader region,” says ITV CEO Katie Marcel. “When legislators, investors, and innovators sit in the same room with a shared sense of urgency, things move. That’s exactly what this moment demands — and exactly what we’re here to create.”
The day-long summit will launch with a keynote presentation from Kate Gordon, CEO of California Forward. Gordon brings two decades of leadership at the intersection of climate, energy policy, and equitable economic development, including senior roles in the Biden-Harris Administration and as Senior Climate Policy Advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom. A national architect of initiatives like the Community Benefits Plan under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and California Jobs First, Gordon will share how regions can align policy, investment, and innovation to spur a more sustainable and resilient energy supply.
In a featured conversation, The Honorable Catharine B. Baker, Director of the University of California Student and Policy Center and a former State Assemblymember, will sit down with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Director Kim Budil to discuss how the Laboratory’s leadership in fusion ignition, exascale computing and AI-driven discovery is transforming the energy economy and accelerating innovation in California and beyond.
While the Tri-Valley is home to extraordinary global assets like LLNL and Sandia National Laboratories, this convening is not inward-looking. It is an invitation to policymakers, investors, and civic innovators throughout California. Advancing the state’s energy goals requires alignment across regions, sectors, and disciplines.
Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group’s 2026 Energy Unleashed: Catalyzing California’s Clean Energy Future will be held on Tuesday, March 31 from 8:00AM to 5:30PM at the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore. Breakfast, lunch, wine reception, and all conference sessions are included in the ticket price.
