PLEASANTON, Calif. — September 12, 2022 On September 27th at the Roundhouse Conference Center at Bishop Ranch, transformational leader, author and Tri-Valley resident, James D. White will be joined in conversation by San Francisco Business Times President and Publisher Mary Huss on his recent book, Anti-Racist Leadership: How to Transform Corporate Culture in a Race-Conscious World.

White is best known for taking the helm of what was a regional smoothie franchise and turning it into the global lifestyle brand, Jamba Inc. White’s career also includes Board leadership for several national brands; he currently chairs the board of the Honest Company, which recently held its IPO and serves as Executive Chair of the Tri-Valley startup Air Protein, a Pleasanton-based food technology company making meat from air, on a mission to deliver the most sustainable alternative meat on earth.

White drills down on his 30-plus years of transformational leadership in his new book and offers a multi-generational point of view as his co-author is daughter Krista White – whom he lovingly describes as one of his “outspoken millennial daughters”. “Now more than ever, CEOs have the mandate to make significant structural changes to address a range of systemic social issues that plague our country and the world,” said White of his inspiration for the book.

Says Jessica Alba, founder and Chief Creative Officer of the Honest Company of which White serves on the Board of Directors, “Embracing each person’s unique heritage, celebrating diversity, and ensuring inclusivity inspires us to be better teammates, leaders, parents, and friends. James White has been an invaluable resource here at Honest, and we’re lucky to have his support and guidance as we continue to foster a truly equitable environment.”

White will be joined at the event by Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group’s recently established DEI Council, co-chaired by Dr. Dyrell Foster, president of Las Positas College, and workforce development veteran Beth McCormick. “James D. White is a powerful conversation starter for the Tri-Valley’s DEI efforts and a thought-provoking leader with more than 30 years of success building diverse, equitable and inclusive work environments. We are honored to have Mr. White share his vast experience, point of view, and thought-leadership with our regional consortium of leaders” said Foster.
The San Francisco Business Times and Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group’s 2022 State of the Tri-Valley will be held on Tuesday, September 27th from 5:30-8pm at Roundhouse Market and Conference Center, Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. The event will feature thoughtful panel discussions and a networking reception with regional entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders who are pushing the Tri-Valley economy to new heights.
