PLEASANTON, Calif. — April 25, 2022 While data is still being analyzed on the lasting impact of the pandemic on adolescents, Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group’s (ITV) Dreammakers and Risktakers Awards, will showcase local teens who responded to the pandemic with grit, creativity and innovation.

“The pandemic impacting our lives made me shift my attention to building a comprehensive tool that can monitor multi-organ dysfunction. I feel that I have a sense of responsibility towards serving society and doing my bit to help improve the current situation” says fifteen-year-old

Dougherty Valley High School student, Gatik Trivedi. Trivedi’s Accessible Correlative Diagnostic Solution for Multi-Organ dysfunction device is one of seven winning projects to be honored at the awards luncheon on May 5th. When a family member lost their life to COVID-19 after arriving at the hospital when it was too late, Gatik was inspired to find a solution. With real-world application potential, Gatik built the prototype in a local commercial lab and will continue to develop the innovation for future commercial use.

NBC Bay Area’s Jessica Aguirre will host the awards ceremony at the Palm Event Center in the Vineyards in Pleasanton where sixteen young leaders will be honored for their impactful projects using innovation, creativity, and empathy. The annual event, now in its 11th year, shines a spotlight on Tri-Valley students innovating the future while fearlessly pursuing their dreams.
